- Please place your genre in the title of your submission,

- ALM uses First North American Serial Rights. At the time of publication, all rights revert to the author,
- We have no minimum for word count, but we ask that you don’t exceed 2,000 words or 5 poems.
Assignment Literary Magazine is seeking submissions of artwork to be featured on the cover of our Spring 2025 Issue: Emerge. We want to see your interpretation of emergence. Is it always a good thing? Why would one need to be in a place of concealment in the first place? Is it a slow process, or does it happen with suddenness? We're looking for cover art that explores this idea.
- We accept visual art in any medium, as long as it can be printed as cover art. Photographs of three-dimensional or mixed-media art are accepted.
- We do accept simultaneous submissions, but in the event your work is accepted elsewhere, we ask you to please inform us as soon as possible.
- You may include multiple pieces in one submission. Please format your work so that there is only one piece per page.
- Please include the medium and title of your work in your submission.
- Please only submit once per submission period; multiple submissions will not be considered.
- Please include a third-person biography with your submission.
- All work must be original and previously unpublished.
- Please do not include your name or other identifying information on your submission.
- Artwork should be formatted as an 8.5” x 11”, high-resolution image file such as TIFF, PDF, or JPEG.
- ALM uses First North American Serial rights. All rights revert to the artist upon publication.
If your work is accepted, you will be notified via Submittable by the end of May 2025 for publication on June 20th, 2025. There is no need to follow-up any sooner than June 1st, 2025. Thank you for trusting us with your work, we hope to give it a home.
